Are you looking to buy Two-Tone / Dual Silk Rainbow Silk Filament in Australia?

Phaser3D Dual Colour is similar to "matterHackers Quantum PLA" - It's the best filament of choice to create the most striking, visually magnificent 3D prints possible. The filament is split into two colors both of which will feature on your finished print. By rotating the part to a different orientation you can completely change the visible color. Silk PLAs normally produce impressive prints that are shiny and seemingly a bit translucent, giving them both the feel and look of being covered in silk. With this kind of filament, there’s no need to paint such prints, as their natural appearance is quite dazzling.

Typically, “silk” filaments are enhanced PLA filaments, owing their glossy result to various additives. As such, they tend to show most of the same pros and cons of PLA filament. In the case where silk filaments have a different base, these would be expected to have similar properties to the base material. For this article, we’ll focus mostly on PLA-based silk filaments.

Please remember that print temperatures and speeds are a guideline and exact settings will be different for every machine.  We recommend that you print a temperature tower and stringing tests to find the best settings for you.

TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE THE BEST PRINTS with Dual PLA Filament

Smaller melt zones are better for, Volcano style hotends can produce mixing that reduces the visual effect of Quantum. E3D v6, Mosquito, and most stock printer hotends are perfect.

Before starting a big print, we recommend printing an alignment coin that will tell you exactly where the color change line is on your specific printer and filament setup. The angle will be different for every printer setup, but we have found that if the printer and filament stay in the same orientation, the alignment doesn't change from spool to spool.

Quantum prints look the best when the outside perimeters of the part are all printed in the same direction, and we have found that many slicers do not do this by default!

Specifications

Spool Net Weight:1kg
Diameter:1.75mm ± 0.17mm
Print Temperature:190 - 220°C
Hot Bed Temperature:0 - 50°C
Print Speed:20- 50mm/s

Why is the diameter variance so high in the spec? The nature of the co-extrusion being 2 separate colors that are joined together creates a filament that is somewhat oval. This can lead to issues with some extruders that are not tolerant of larger filament diameters. examples that we have seen that can have problems are the e3d Hemera and the orbiter 1.5-2.0. Also, printers running Capricorn tubing may have issues as the diameter of the inner hole is slightly smaller than the cheaper style of ptfe tube.
